3 Business Processes to Automate First (Before You Touch AI)

Before you buy an AI tool, find a job that follows the same pattern every week. These three are good places to look.

1. Re-entering the same information

An order arrives by email. Someone copies the customer, items and dates into another system. If the details follow clear rules, move the information automatically and send unusual cases to a person to check.

2. Building the same report

If someone pulls the same numbers from the same places every Monday, ask whether those numbers can be collected and sent automatically. Then the meeting can start with the numbers instead of the hunt for them.

3. Handing work to the next person

When sales finishes its part, does operations know right away? A useful handoff can create the next task, carry over the right details and tell the right person it is ready.

None of these automatically requires AI. Use it when the input needs interpreting, such as a free-form email or a document. Use clear rules for the parts that are predictable, and keep a person involved where judgement matters.
